The 2023 Acura Integra Just Earned The Highest Possible Safety Award

After its highly-anticipated return, the new Acura Integra continues to surprise us by earning the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award! Although the Integra is designed for performance, Acura still paid careful attention to the safety aspect of this fan-favorite car. The Delray Acura team is here to bring you more information on this incredible feat.

What Is the IIHS?

If this is your first time hearing about the IIHS, the group is officially called the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. They act as a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the number of injuries, deaths, and even property damage relating to car crashes. They do this by thoroughly researching and testing new vehicles to judge their safety rating using a reliable crash test system. Vehicles that pass these tests with a well-above-average score earn the Top Safety Pick+ award to let potential buyers know which cars are more likely to keep them safe in the event of an accident.

How to Earn Top Safety Pick+

The crash tests that are executed to judge a vehicle’s safety rating consist of 6 different evaluations:

  • Driver-side small overlap front
  • Passenger-side small overlap front
  • Moderate overlap front
  • Original side
  • Roof strength
  • Head restraint

The 2023 Integra was able to earn this award by excelling in each of these test areas along with implementing a front crash prevention system and achieving a high rating in vehicle-to-vehicle and daytime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations. Not too many vehicles earn IIHS Top Safety Pick+ but now you can feel more confident about riding in an Integra!

Other 2023 Integra Safety Features

Earning the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award is already incredibly impressive in its own right, but the safety aspect of the Integra doesn’t end there. Aside from excellent crash test ratings, you also have access to an impressive array of safety features designed to keep you from getting into an accident in the first place. AcuraWatch is a complete set of basic yet essential safety features designed to keep you aware of your surroundings and take over the wheel and brakes when absolutely necessary. AcuraWatch features include:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System
  • Road Departure Mitigation
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow
  • Lane Keeping Assist System
  • Pedestrian Detection
  • Traffic Sign Recognition
  • Traffic Jam Assist

On top of the AcuraWatch package, the 2023 Integra comes with additional features such as the Blind Spot Information System, Rear Cross Traffic Monitor, and Low-Speed Braking Control which are all extremely useful during in-town trips, especially in crowded parking lot areas. This is all to keep you safe, but it also helps keep your precious Integra from getting ruined.
