Where Have We Heard “ZDX” Before?
The 2024 Acura electric ZDX is a major revitalization of the original ZDX model that was released in 2010. From 2010-2013, the ZDX had a limited run of crossover SUVs that had the look of a current aerodynamic EV before companies were confident about such a style becoming our future. Needless to say, Acura was ahead of the curve on this one. Now that EVs are quickly looking to become the norm within the next few years, Acura is bringing back that sleek and futuristic aesthetic with a completely revitalized electric ZDX.
A Battery in Collaboration with General Motors
Every EVs success comes from the quality of its battery which is why Acura worked in tandem with GM to equip the new 2024 electric ZDX with an Ultium battery that’s already been making a great impression on EV enthusiasts. So far, consumers can find an Ultium battery in a Cadillac with a driving range as high as 312 miles on a full charge. Although the battery may not provide the exact same specs for the electric ZDX, we can expect a similar driving range and well over 300 horsepower with a rear-mounted setup. And since Acura already confirmed a Type S version, we can expect higher numbers for the upgraded model.
Acura’s Precision EV Concept
The new 2024 Electric ZDX is confirmed to bring Acura’s Precision EV Concept to fruition. If this upcoming EV will be anything like the prototype that debuted at the Car Week event in Monterey, we’re in for a real treat. The concept model featured unique aspects such as a light-up grille and a floating roof design. Of course, a smooth sculpt for the frame is a must-have in the new era. The interior will likely be open and spacious with a bright clean atmosphere like with many current EVs on the market. And although the prototype displayed yoke-style steering, the 2024 ZDX will likely come with a traditional wheel in order to appeal to the average driver.
Facts From Acura’s Very Own Press
While many things are up for speculation, there are a few facts that have come from the company itself. The electric ZDX is only the beginning of its transition into an all-electric future with the promise of its own electric platform (the global e:Architecture) set to release sometime in 2026.
