The updated Acura ARX-06 electrified prototypes showcased remarkable speed and reliability during recent preseason testing for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Held this past November at the Daytona International Speedway, the pair of Acura race cars successfully topped the charts in three out of five test sessions, signaling a strong start for the upcoming racing calendar.
Performance was particularly notable for the #93 car on the opening day of testing. Drivers Nick Yelloly and Renger van der Zande recorded the fastest times in their respective sessions, with Yelloly clocking a blistering 1:35.725—the quickest lap recorded in the GTP class throughout the weekend. The momentum continued into the second day, where Colin Braun piloted the #60 Acura MSR vehicle to the top spot during the first session.
Both machines have been outfitted with refreshed aerodynamic packages and new Michelin tire compounds to meet the demands of the 2026 IMSA season. Over the course of the two-day event, the #93 car completed 411 laps, while the #60 car logged 394 turns around the circuit. The drivers expressed satisfaction with the enhancements and the vehicles' responsiveness on the track.
While the ARX-06 prototypes are engineered strictly for the racetrack, the engineering DNA of Acura performance is reflected in the street vehicles available today.
